Pécs Plaza’s Gate 3 marks the start of this New Year’s street run, a local event for shaking off the year sportily and happily, and for bidding farewell to the old year alongside other runners. The start is signaled by a “champagne pop,” setting the mood before the race begins.
The route leads from the Plaza onto Vásártér utca, Megyeri út, and Nagy Imre út, then follows the bike paths beside Pellérdi út and the Nyugati elkerülő út before returning to the finish arch at Gate 3. Separate categories exist for kids, women, and men, with awards for the youngest and oldest finishers. A notable feature is the costume prize: participants wearing their most inventive outfits may win an award. It is explicitly a “party run,” using manual timing, so bring your energy, good spirits, and perhaps a relaxed approach to the clock.
