XI. Bakony Félmaraton

The High Bakony region defines this race: forest roads, the Cuha Valley gorge, and an authentic trail feel between Zirc and the castle finish below Csesznek. Now in its eleventh edition, the XI. Bakony Félmaraton is known as the Bakony’s most scenic and frequented trail race. This reputation is supported by its route: through the Bakony’s "beautiful gorge-valley," then around Zirgtető before descending toward the finish. Most of the course follows forest roads, with only brief paved sections at the start and end, so wear appropriate footwear for damp conditions. Participants must also cross the Cuha stream multiple times, and the course includes significant climbing. Aid stations are located near Porva-Csesznek and the Kő-pince spring close to Vinye. A notable post-finish tradition is a feast featuring aranygaluska, a type of sweet dough ball.
