Mugello GP Run puts runners on the Mugello Circuit in Scarperia e San Piero, the same Tuscan motor-racing track used for MotoGP. It is a road running event with a measured competitive race of 10.490 km, usually described as 10 km, plus a shorter non-competitive option of about 5 km for people who want to run or walk rather than race flat out. There is also a children's race of 700 meters on the smaller Mugellino circuit. The event is authorized by UISP and organized by the Maratona del Mugello Committee together with Mugello Circuit.
The main race is two full laps of the autodrome, so the appeal is very simple: instead of watching motorcycles on the circuit, participants get to move around it under their own power. The shorter event is open to everyone and is popular beyond the competitive field, bringing in walkers, casual runners, and people drawn by the chance to step onto a track normally reserved for high-end motorsport. The series is still young in the available history, with one source calling an earlier running the third edition, while the current name refers to the 13th Mugello GP Run.
