DoppiaW Ultra

DoppiaW Ultra begins and ends in Villa di Tirano, located in Lombardy’s Sondrio province, and takes runners across the border between Italy and Switzerland. This mountain trail series covers alpine paths in Valtellina and Valposchiavo. It is typically held in late June, featuring UTMB Index courses and distances of approximately 15 km, 30 km, 70 km, and 100 km. A night race option is also available, extending the event beyond daytime running. The courses traverse vineyards, mountain villages, and high-altitude terrain, with an average elevation near 2,000 meters and peaks exceeding 2,600 meters. The 100 km race presents the main challenge, while the shorter distances offer trail runners access to the same border-mountain environment. The event attracts a diverse international field; recent editions have seen over 800 participants from 17 countries. Some competitors use it to prepare for more demanding alpine races, such as Sentiero Roma.
