K42 Italia is the Italian event in the K42 Series, held at Monte Terminillo in Lazio during a July weekend. The primary race is a demanding 45 km trail-running loop with 3,310 m of elevation gain, beginning and ending in Piazza Pian de’ Valli in Terminillo. The event also features shorter races: K15 Terminillo, a 15 km loop with 1,160 m of climbing, and K10 Cardito.
The K42 course departs Terminillo, loops through the historic center of Leonessa, and returns via mountain trails across two distinct ridges. The final ascent follows the Sassetelli ridge, the course’s most notable high-altitude section. The K15 shares the same Terminillo starting area and is designed to showcase all aspects of Monte Terminillo to participants. The event is described as an “Adventure Marathon” and targets trail runners, not road racers.
