The Notturna di San Jacopo is a summer night running event held in Pistoia’s historic center, honoring the city’s patron saint. The race begins and ends in Piazza del Duomo, offering a competitive 9-kilometer course alongside 6- and 3-kilometer non-competitive walking options for a more relaxed participation. This event is put on by the Cai Pistoia running group, in collaboration with the Municipality, Mondo Corsa, and the provincial Uisp committee.
The race resumed following a pause because of the pandemic, with its tenth edition seeing significant turnout. Before the runners begin, the Diocese of Pistoia offers a blessing to participants and onlookers from the Baptistery of San Giovanni in Corte. The event welcomes sports enthusiasts of all levels, not exclusively elite athletes, thus blending competitive runners, walkers, local clubs, and individuals participating in the patron-saint festivities within the old city.
