The Semi-Marathon de Palmanova is a half marathon held in November in Friuli Venezia Giulia, located in north-eastern Italy. The race begins and concludes on Piazza Grande, the main square of Palmanova, a town designed as a star-shaped Venetian fortress. The participant field typically numbers around 2,000 runners, with previous entry figures varying between just over 1,000 and close to 3,000.
The route is flat and quick, departing the fortress-town environment for the expansive Friulian Plain. Participants will run past farmland and small, traditional villages before looping back to Piazza Grande. The event attracts numerous participants from neighboring Slovenia and Austria, giving it the atmosphere of a regional Italian race with a significant international contingent.
