The Triathlon Olimpico Internazionale Città di Recco is an Olympic-distance triathlon held in July in Recco, a town on the Golfo Paradiso. Athletes swim, bike, and run. An Aquathlon is now part of the race weekend. Qualitry organizes the event, which is in its history, with the current race around its nineteenth edition. It attracts about 300 athletes, enough to feel busy while keeping the feel of a local club race.
The triathlon begins at Spiaggia dei Frati, with athletes starting in six waves of about 50. The bike course covers 44 km, and a recently resurfaced road section has made the ride unusually smooth. Recco provides logistical support for the race: packet pickup, bag drop, parking, shuttles to the beaches, chip timing, aid stations, showers, photos, and a pasta party. Awards are given to overall leaders and the top three in each category. Teams can register groups, with every eleventh entry free after ten paid athletes.
