Venice Open Water is an open-water swimming event held at Bluemoon beach on the Lido of Venice, taking place each June in the lagoon since 2021. The program offers swimmers a choice of distances: an 800-meter Sprint Swim, an 1850-meter Mile Swim, and a 3500-meter 3.5 K Swim. It is designed for a mixed field, including competitive athletes, amateur swimmers, and families.
The races start from the beach on the Lido, focusing on swimming in open water off Venice’s barrier island rather than pool-style lanes. A short kids’ race, La Nuada del Passarin, adds a 300-meter distance for children aged 7 to 10. The event is also known as NuadaLonga for its longer distances. Its recent growth has come from adding categories while maintaining the core concept: different swimmers engaging with the lagoon at distances suited to their abilities.
