The 10 Km di Capo Peloro - Trofeo Luigi Cacopardi is a December road race in Messina, held between Ganzirri and Torre Faro near the Strait of Messina. It is a traditional city foot race, not a small club outing: the event draws over 350 registered runners, is on the national FIDAL calendar, and also part of the regional Sicily Bronze Races circuit.
Runners gather near Lago Grande di Ganzirri, collect bibs and race packets at I.C. Evemero da Messina, then start the 10 km in the morning. The route follows Via delle Palme/SP46 as an out-and-back course: the first 500 meters are straight, followed by four return laps of 2,375 meters. The usual single loop toward the Pilone was altered due to roadworks in Torre Faro. Most participants come from across Sicily, with some from abroad, including a Polish group, and the race is linked with community events focused on sport.
