Dorpsloop Leusden is a June road event in Leusden, Utrecht province, Netherlands, offering 5 km and 10 km runs on a hard surface, plus a 5 km walk. It functions as a village sports evening, not just an adult race: children have their own BuiningRun and KidsRun, teenagers and adults can compete in timed distances, and the 5 km includes a corporate competition. The 10 km is for ages 14 and up, and the walk begins in an early-evening window rather than a single start time.
The children’s races contribute significantly to the event’s local character. The BuiningRun is an untimed, playful course with stamp posts, while the KidsRun is a timed 1300-meter race for upper primary school groups, where schools compete for a cup. Kiwanis Leusden sponsors the children’s races, allowing free entry for kids, PON sponsors the 5 km and 10 km, and the non-profit Stichting De Kr8 van Sport organizes the event. As it is in its third edition, it feels more like a developing community run than a long-established mass race.
