Wildman Run Sleen is a muddy obstacle run in Sleen, a village in Drenthe, with routes through the countryside around the Jongbloedvaart. It takes place in September and offers runners short and longer distances, from a kids route to a 10-mile option. The concept is straightforward: run, climb, crawl, wade through water, and continue when the course becomes difficult.
The route begins at the event grounds and enters nature areas and fields around Sleen, featuring mud, water, and technical obstacles integrated into the run. The race is part of the Zuidenveld competition, but non-competitors can also participate, attracting local runners, teams, families, and obstacle-run enthusiasts. The kids run circles around Sleen, the ice rink, and the Tomme Tomme trail; younger children may participate with a parent. The start-finish area provides music, food, amenities, and spectator space, and recent events have seen around 1,500 participants starting in waves.
