Ålesund Vinterkarusell

Ålesund Vinterkarusell is a five-race winter road series in Ålesund, held at 1:00 PM on the second Sunday of each month from November through March. Each event provides measured 5 km and 10 km courses, alongside a non-timed 5 km option for recreational runners. The series began in the mid-1980s near Furmyra and Åse, eventually relocating to Gamle Brusdals veg when the original location proved difficult in winter. The route begins and ends at BestDrive in Fremmerholen, proceeding into Brusdalen. Participants turn at 2.5 km for the 5 km race and at 5 km for the 10 km race, returning the same path. Sunday traffic is typically light, but runners are advised to be aware near Hageland and to wear bright or reflective gear. The participants are primarily local: club runners, regular winter racers, and those in the trim class share the course, with the first race often seeing the highest participation. Following each event, draw prizes, juice, cola, cake, and coffee are provided. Completing at least three races earns a series prize after the final round.
