The Arctic Backyard Kirkenes begins at the Kirkenes and Vicinity Ski Club shelter near Andrevann. Runners return to this point after each 6.7-kilometer circuit. This is a backyard-style race held in Kirkenes, Norway. The initial lap commences at noon, with subsequent laps starting on the hour. Participants must complete each lap within the hour to proceed. The race concludes after 12 laps, presenting a total challenge of approximately 80 kilometers.
The course winds around Andrevann, starting from the Tufteparken/ski play area, utilizing a combination of asphalt and gravel paths. The event also includes shorter race options, such as one-mile fun runs, catering to a broader audience beyond ultrarunners aiming to complete all 12 laps. Food, refreshments, and restrooms are available on-site. Runners are required to bring their own cups. All finishers receive medals. The top three male and female runners completing the final lap are recognized with awards. Additionally, the fastest overall male and female participants are honored, and any runner finishing all 12 laps is presented with a special commemorative cup.
