Bergen Maraton is a city race day held at Bryggen in central Bergen. It includes a full marathon, the Jæger Half Marathon, a relay, a 5 km race, and a 2 km children’s race. The half marathon is precisely 21,097 meters and begins at Bryggen. Runners use Vikinghallen for changing and bag storage prior to starting. The race morning commences with a group warm-up at 07:15. The event accommodates a broad range of participants, from young half-marathon runners aged 16-17 to older runners categorized into five-year age groups.
The half marathon route crosses Bergen’s city-center streets, including Fjellveien, the new section around Store Lungegårdsvann, the marketplace, and Bryggen. Five aid stations are positioned along the course, and the relay utilizes exchange points detailed in the event's course materials. The route features sufficient elevation changes to offer variety. Its central course allows spectators to easily view and support runners in multiple locations. Organizers refer to Bergen as Norway’s foremost marathon city, a distinction the event reinforces by offering multiple distances on the same day, rather than focusing solely on the marathon.
