Fjellskar Opp

Fjellskar Opp is a short uphill race held in Sande, within Holmestrand municipality at Vestfold's northern edge. It takes place in September, covering 3.3 km with 273 meters of elevation gain, presenting a significant hill challenge without the length of a mountain race. The event includes a competition class, a trim class for a more leisurely run, and distinct youth categories. The course ascends via gravel roads and trails. Participants in the trim class using strollers can remain on the gravel road for the entire route. Both the competition and trim classes feature mass starts. Prize money is awarded to the top three in the competition classes, alongside an intermediate sprint prize and prizes from a start-number draw. Nordre Sande IL organizes the race. Previously, it was largely a private endeavor with the club's involvement, but the club now manages it independently. A basic kiosk operates post-finish, complementing the race's local, family-oriented atmosphere.
