Hellesyltløpet begins and ends at Hellesylt stadion in Hellesylt, western Norway, during the Hellesyltdagane summer festival. Sunnylvl IL has organized it annually since 1987. There are separate classes for girls and boys up to 16, and for women and senior runners. The younger runners compete over about 1600 meters near the stadium, while the adult course measures 6.6 km.
The longer route descends toward the village center, proceeds through the Korsbrekkeelven area, and returns to the stadium. The terrain includes asphalt, gravel, a tractor road, path, grass, and open ground. It is a small local race, typically attracting around a hundred participants, though sometimes more. The field comprises children, club runners, strong athletes from the mountain region, and recreational runners. The organizer provides a prize for all participants. The senior course has its own record history, featuring an early men's mark set by an English runner and later fast times by Norwegian runners like Helge Hafsås.
