Kongeløpet is a 13 km run in Gulen, from Byrknesøy to Skjerjehamn, finishing by the statue of King Olav V. It begins at noon on asphalt. The route is not flat; it crosses bridges and islands, with hills providing a proper workout along the coast.
Runners can complete the full race. Teams of three can enter the Konge-stafetten relay with legs of about 4.8 km, 2.1 km, and 6 km. Non-runners can join the Kongemarsjen walk of about 5 km. The finish features Knut Steen’s King Olav V statue, commissioned by Oslo municipality, refused, and then placed by the artist in Skjerjehamn, facing seafarers toward Sognefjorden.
