Solan Gundersens Bergmaraton is a mountain running event in Alvdal, a Norwegian village surrounded by hills, mountains, and hiking peaks. It takes place in August and offers several distances: 1 km for the youngest runners, 6 km, a 22 km half marathon, and a 48 km Marathon+ for competition classes. Runners can choose between a timed recreational class or a competition class, catering to children, youth, and adults seeking anything from a short stadium run to a long mountain challenge.
The race utilizes Alvdal’s local trail network, marked and improved by the Alvdal hiking association. Steimoegga is included in the course, with the 1 km children’s race held within the stadium. The event is organized compactly, with the start and finish in the same area, alongside nearby parking and changing facilities. Solan Gundersen and Emanuel Desperados have previously started the 6 km race, and the race weekend may coincide with local sports like football and disc golf at Steimoegga.
