Syv Søstre Skyrace is a new mountain running series on Norway’s Helgeland coast, starting from the Sandnessjøen and Alstahaug area in August. It offers two steep trail races: the 22 km Syv Søstre route and the 12 km Dronningruta. The long race climbs about 2,800 meters, while the shorter route still includes about 1,200 meters of ascent, so both options are for runners comfortable with hard mountain terrain.
The 22 km course runs from Breitinden to Botnkrona and crosses all seven peaks of the De Syv Søstre mountain range. The 12 km Dronningruta follows the Queen’s route over Grytfoten and Botnkrona, starting and finishing below Botnkrona. The race is for runners who like steep climbs, technical ground, exposed high sections, sea views, and the Helgeland islands in the background. The first official edition has limited entries, with minimum ages of 16 for the full Syv Søstre route and 14 for Dronningruta.
