The Eketahuna Gravel Series KRG is a winter gravel race held in Eketahuna. Riders begin at 8 am from the main road near the public toilets. The routes are designed for a crisp winter day, though the organiser notes that weather conditions may alter the course until the start.
Riders can select from 65 km, 130 km, and 180 km distances, all featuring a substantial amount of unpaved terrain. The 65 km route involves a 795-metre climb and is 61% unpaved. The 130 km route climbs 1,378 metres and is 48% unpaved. The 180 km route has a 2,575-metre climb and is 60% unpaved. The longest route goes through Pongaroa, which offers toilets, a dairy, and a pub. The remaining sections of the routes lack services, requiring riders to be self-sufficient.
