The Biegnę dla Niepodległej race uses a 1,918-metre distance as its clearest symbol, referencing Poland's regaining of independence. This local Independence Day running event takes place in Białystok around the national holiday in November, organized by Fundacja Białystok Biega. Adults have the option of running 1,918 metres or 10 km, and a 4.5 km walk is also available.
The route passes through historical sites in Białystok, connecting the holiday to the city beyond just the event's name. The event is designed for families and runners alike: children from age two can participate in 100 m, 400 m, or 600 m races tailored to age groups, and these kids' races are part of the Super Biegacz series. Participants are encouraged to wear white and red clothing, colors that are prominent on race day. Volunteers are essential to the event's operation, which has been organized annually since 2019.
