The Olsztyn Independence Run begins and ends at the city beach on Lake Ukiel, with the main race starting at 11:11 on Polish Independence Day. This is the largest street race in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, featuring a fast 10 km main run, shorter running options, 5 km and 10 km Nordic walking routes, and children’s races of 100, 200, and 400 meters.
Runners start on the Lake Ukiel boulevards before proceeding onto wide city streets like Sielska and Schumana, allowing for an open pace. The event originated from a spontaneous local effort that received a strong turnout from Olsztyn runners, and it continues to combine standard race competition with a patriotic holiday atmosphere.
