The Poznań Marathon begins by the Poznań International Fair and concludes on Marek Square, near the fair’s prominent spire. This 42.2 km road race takes place in Poznań, the capital of Poland’s Wielkopolska region, and has been held annually since 2000. It ranks among Poland’s largest marathon events, drawing over 80,000 participants from 63 nations in its previous runs.
The course follows city streets, offering participants an urban perspective of Poznań rather than a rural or stadium setting. Club athletes, international guests, and recreational runners compete together. The race now commemorates 25 years of marathon running in the city. Named in honor of Maciej Frankiewicz, its established connection with the fairgrounds provides distinct Poznań landmarks for the start and finish.
