Zakopiański Weekend Biegowy z Sokołem is a three-day mountain running event in Zakopane, Poland, situated at the base of the Tatra Mountains. Taking place annually in June, it offers participants three route options: approximately 10 km, 15.6 km, and a challenging Tatra route of about 31-32 km. The event is designed for trail and mountain runners, featuring routes that vary in distance and difficulty. The long race presents a significant high-mountain challenge.
The primary long-distance race is Bieg Marduły, named in honor of Druh Franciszek Marduła. This race has also hosted the Polish Skyrunning Championships. Its course spans roughly 31 km, with an ascent of approximately 2,100 m and a descent of about 2,050 m, reaching an elevation of 2,063 m. Runners will encounter stones, steep terrain, and variable mountain weather. The weekend also incorporates local elements, including a running discussion at Sokolnia and children's sports activities, giving it the feel of a Zakopane club gathering alongside a demanding mountain race.
