Corrida do Tejo is a 10 km road race on the north bank of the Tagus River, starting in Algés and finishing at Praia da Torre in Oeiras. It has run since 1981, making it one of Portugal’s older 10 km races, and it now draws more than 7,000 runners and walkers. The Municipality of Oeiras organizes it with HMS Sports, and runners start in waves based on predicted pace.
The route is a straight asphalt run along Avenida Marginal, the EN6 road beside the river. The Tagus stays close for much of the race, but the course is not completely flat: it includes 107 m of climbing, 97 m of descent, and some short inclines that make people work. Many Portuguese runners treat it as a race to have on their running CV, while the field also includes walkers and everyday participants sharing the same morning toward Oeiras.
