Louzantrail is a mountain trail-running series in Portugal's Serra da Lousã, with routes that send runners through the Schist Villages and steep forested terrain. The main event is a 43 km Ultra Trail with 3000 m of climbing, supported by a 28 km Long Trail with 2000 m of climbing, a 15 km Short Trail with 1260 m, a 10 km walk with 500 m, and the Corrida dos Rapozinhos for children.
The course connects specific places around Lousã rather than just looping through anonymous hills. Runners pass the Mirante viewpoint above the village, Terreiro das Bruxas, the Grutas da Nossa Senhora da Piedade, the 11th-century Castelo de Arouce, and Trevim, the highest point on the route. The Schist Villages are a major part of the day, including Talasnal, Casal Novo, Vaqueirinho, Candal, Cerdeira, and Chiqueiro, whose balcony looks back over the village. Trail names such as Amazônia de Baixo, Trilho do Rochedo, Trilho da Raposa, Trilho do Javali, Trilho do Escorrega, and Trilho T give the race a very local feel.
