The São Silvestre de Espinho is a road race held in early January in Espinho, a coastal city in northern Portugal. The primary event is a 10 km run, complemented by a 5 km walk and a short children’s race of approximately 300 meters. This setup accommodates competitive runners, walkers, families, and children on the same morning. Both the start and finish lines are located in Espinho, with the race typically commencing at 10:00 AM.
The course winds through city streets and extends along the oceanfront, offering participants a blend of urban racing and seaside scenery within the city limits. The Municipality of Espinho, in collaboration with Running Espinho, organizes the event. Recent editions have seen thousands of registered athletes participate. The 10 km race is also known for its fast pace, with typical winning times around 30 minutes for men and in the mid-34 minute range for women.
