Vårruset is a women’s spring running series held in several Swedish cities, originating in 1989. The standard race is a measured 5 km, with many events also providing a 2.5 km option, suitable for running, jogging, or walking. It is part of Sweden’s largest exercise tour for girls and women, designed with a low-pressure approach: 5 km timing is optional, and forgoing an official result does not alter the entry fee.
The local course and event area vary by city; in Örebro, the race hub is at Gustavsviksbadet, and the local club KFUM Örebro Friidrott assists in organizing it alongside Marathongruppen and other clubs. Participants can register individually or as a five-person team, with teams receiving a picnic post-race. These additions contribute to its identity: finishers receive a medal and goodie bag, and the event includes a music quiz and prizes unrelated to the running itself.
