Nízkotatranská stíhačka sends solo ultrarunners almost the full 100 km from Telgárt to Donovaly across Slovakia’s Low Tatras. The race is run annually as a mountain ultramarathon for individuals, with a 98.5 km course and 5,640 m of climbing. Time out - OZ organizes it, and the numbers make clear that this is a long ridge race rather than a short mountain run with one big climb.
The route follows the main ridge of the Low Tatras before its final section in the Starohorské vrchy mountains. The race began as a long-distance march with 25 teams, then moved into a limited two-person team format, with the cap tied to nature protection and permit conditions. It later changed into a solo ultra trail race, and it now sits as a regular fixture in Slovakia’s ultra-running scene.
