Strečnianska mašľa begins in Strečno at the Futbalové ihrisko Radinové, offering participants 50 km, 25 km, and 5 km route options. This Slovak trail race series primarily crosses forest terrain, with approximately 90% of the course on forest ground and 10% on asphalt. The 50 km route presents a significant challenge: 2,985 meters of elevation gain over 50 km, a 12-hour time limit, and a maximum of 300 runners. The 25 km option includes 1,699 meters of climbing, while the 5 km walk is mostly flat, featuring only 10 meters of elevation gain.
The series accommodates walkers, Nordic Walking participants, and a 25 km category for those running with a dog. Klub slovenských turistov UHLÍK Strečno organizes the event, aligning with the mountain-touring character of the trails rather than a road-race format. The 50 km course passes several named checkpoints, such as Suchý, chata pod Suchým, sedlo Javorina, Minčol, Višňové, and Vyhliadka Špicák. Required equipment includes a first-aid kit with an elastic bandage and thermal foil, a personal drinking container for aid stations, a minimum of half a liter of fluid, a charged phone with the registered SIM card, a visible race bib, and insurance for Mountain Rescue Service intervention. The top three finishers in each 50 km category will receive shopping vouchers and sponsor prizes.
