Churchill P.I.E. manages the races, with proceeds benefiting Churchill Elementary's wellness and education initiatives, including playground equipment, healthy snacks, health programs, and technology. On Thanksgiving morning in Duluth, Minnesota, the Gobble Gallop sends Northland runners out before the holiday meal. Duluth Running Company hosts this tradition, now in its decades-long run, which draws around 1,800 participants and offers a main 5K, the Tough Turkey 1-Mile, and the Gobble Giddy Up! Kids Run. The race is built for families as much as faster runners: some children first join in strollers, then come back old enough to run the one-mile race themselves. Parents and siblings often race on the same morning, and part of the proceeds support Safe Haven.
