About
The Parkersburg Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning run or walk held in Parkersburg City Park, beginning at 9:00 AM at 1920 Park Ave in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Established in 1979, the race centers on a straightforward holiday concept: encouraging families, friends, walkers, and runners to be active before the rest of Thanksgiving Day commences.
The course remains within City Park, offering a local and manageable route instead of a point-to-point road race. Dr. Gary Ogilvie initiated the event, with Joe Corra subsequently guiding its progression. The top male and female finishers each receive a fresh turkey and a Turkey Trot hoodie, and all registered participants are entered into drawings for 50 door prizes awarded post-race. Packet pickup is available at the Wood County Rec Building on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and on race morning.
