About
The 4th of July Flagstaff Downtown Mile is a one-mile road race in downtown Flagstaff, Arizona, held before the city’s annual Independence Day parade. Team Run Flagstaff organizes the event, with runners competing in six waves on the streets designated for the parade. The start and race hub are located on East Aspen Avenue in the town center, ensuring the event remains connected to the holiday crowd rather than being at a separate race venue.
The mile course consists of two loops: runners head north on San Francisco Street, west on Cherry Avenue, south on Beaver Street, and west on Aspen Avenue, before repeating the loop to finish. The competition includes Masters races for men and women aged 40 and over, citizen races for men and women of all ages, and elite men’s and women’s races offering a cash purse. Children have their own half-mile race using one loop of the course. Awards are presented to the top finishers in overall and age-group categories for each race, accommodating serious racers, local runners, families, and parade spectators within a condensed downtown setting.
