The Anoka Halloween Gray Ghost Run is a downtown Anoka 5K and one-mile fitness walk connected to the city’s Halloween Grand Day Parade. The 5K begins in the early afternoon and uses chip timing, with a virtual option allowing runners to submit results anytime in October.
The first mile follows the parade route, where an estimated 25,000 spectators are already gathered for Halloween festivities. Walkers finish near the parade route's end, while 5K runners continue onto residential streets. At the finish area, participants receive shirts, refreshments, and can stay for performance awards, age-group awards, and a costume contest. Each participant gets a shirt and medal, with Gray Ghost running socks available as an add-on, and the event benefits a designated cause.
