The Arizona Monster 300 is a point-to-point trail ultramarathon through Southern Arizona, running from Patagonia to Superior across the Sonoran Desert. The race is approximately 300.5 miles, with a 150-hour cutoff, scheduled for late March to early April. It takes place on National Forest lands, designed for runners capable of managing several days of desert travel, sleep strategy, navigation between aid, and significant elevation changes.
The course is primarily single-track, covering about 259 miles (84 percent of the route), with shorter segments of bike path, paved road, and dirt road. Runners will ascend 41,162 feet and descend 42,463 feet, making the route physically demanding throughout. Nineteen aid stations are provided, but runners must remain self-sufficient during extended stretches between them. The Sonoran Desert environment contributes unique challenges, featuring winter warmth, two rainy seasons, arid open expanses, varied plant life, and high-elevation mountain terrain.
