The Autumn March for ALS begins at Dyersburg's Square in Dyersburg, Tennessee, on the third Saturday of October. This local race-day series includes a 5K run, a 2-mile walk, a youth mile, a half-mile Y-Tot Trot for children 5 and under, and a Ghost Runner option for those who wish to contribute without participating in the race.
Jerry Edmundson, then director of the Dyersburg/Dyer County Union Mission, established the March in 1991 to benefit the Mission's youth programs. Since 2016, Sarah Alley and a volunteer committee have organized it as an ALS awareness event. Proceeds support the Tennessee ALS Chapter, local senior scholarships, and Matthew 25:40, Inc. The day also features family activities, including an auto show and food trucks.
