The Autumn Squatch 10K, 20K & 50K takes runners and hikers into the woods at Alum Creek State Park in Lewis Center, Ohio, in late autumn. The race utilizes the Rocks and Roots Trail, with the start and finish located just off Hollenback Road, south of the dog park. All participants begin at 8 a.m. and then select their loop count: one loop for the 10K, two for the 20K, and five for the 50K.
The Squatch theme is present throughout the day: hundreds of Squatch enthusiasts enter the Alum Creek woods annually, searching for the elusive Autumn Squatch. According to race lore, the first documented sighting occurred in the fall of 2012. The creature is said to frequent the Rocks and Roots Trail on late-autumn nights as it moves south for winter. This format keeps 10K trail runners, longer-distance runners, 50K ultrarunners, hikers, and volunteers connected by the same wooded loop system.
