Bear Trap Trail Races is a dirt-running event in Settlement Canyon near Tooele, Utah, offering marathon, 23k, and 10k distances. Runners begin in the morning following early check-in. The format allows participants to choose between a full mountain-style day or shorter, challenging trail distances.
The courses utilize three distinct loops within Left Hand Fork of Settlement Canyon, ascending into the canyon and along Center Ridge. Runners will encounter forested singletrack, rough dirt roads, open bench trails, and steep desert ridgelines. The routes provide views across Tooele Valley and toward the 9,000- to 10,000-foot peaks surrounding the canyon. Modest awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in each distance. The canyon holds historical significance, having been settled by Mormon pioneers in the late 1840s.
