Black Toenail Friday Half Marathon and 7.5 Miler NC 2026

Black Toenail Friday is a late-morning trail race held at the Pine Hill Trail Head in Snow Camp, North Carolina's Cane Creek Mountains Natural Area, taking place on the Friday following Thanksgiving. It features a half marathon and a 7.5-mile option, with each distance offering a ruck division. The participants include runners, ruckers, hikers, families, novice trail runners, and more seasoned trail athletes. The 11:00 a.m. start time is a key attraction, allowing participants to sleep in after Thanksgiving, avoid the Black Friday shopping crowds, and opt for a day on the trails. The course consists of groomed, clearly marked trails with straightforward signage and taped-off incorrect paths. The terrain underfoot combines smooth single-track sections with moderate roots, rocks, and rolling ascents, providing a genuine trail running feel without being excessively technical. Registration covers a custom long-sleeved shirt, post-race refreshments, live timing, awards, and a finisher medal. Economy and virtual participation options are also available. The race is part of the North Carolina Trail Mega Medal Series, and participants have the option to exchange the shirt for a hoodie or pay an additional fee for both.
