The Capalbo Strong Walk is a 24K community walk held at Jennings Beach in Fairfield, Connecticut, covering a total of 15 miles. It serves as a tribute to Charlie Capalbo, a Fairfield Prep hockey player who battled Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Leukemia, passing away before his 24th birthday. Participants pay a $24 registration fee and commit to raising a minimum of $300, with virtual walkers aiming for at least $100. Children under 12 are exempt from fundraising requirements.
The course begins and ends at Jennings Beach, utilizing a loop design that allows participants to complete one 5-mile lap, two laps, or the entire 15 miles. The event originated in 2017, initiated by Fairfield Prep hockey mothers who mobilized support during Charlie’s initial cancer battle. The event now covers the primary walk, a virtual participation choice, a distinct 12-and-under walk, and an optional after-party at Seagrape.
