The Columbia River Classic Run begins and ends at the USS Triton Submarine Memorial in Richland, Washington, utilizing paved paths alongside the Columbia River. This November race offers two primary choices: a competitive 10-mile run and a 2-mile dash. A free 2-mile category is available for youth aged 15 and under. The event is organized by 3 Rivers Road Runners, featuring a straightforward local arrangement with packet pickup at Atomic Ale Brewpub & Eatery prior to race day and at USS Triton Submarine Park on race morning.
Both races utilize out-and-back courses on the Columbia River trail, presenting a clear format: run out, turn, and return to the submarine memorial. The 10-mile race provides age group awards, hydration stations at the Snyder Street entrance to Leslie Groves Park and at the turnaround point, and energy gels at the turnaround. The 2-mile dash offers a more casual option, allowing families and younger participants a shorter distance. A portion of the proceeds benefits Camp Patriot, a nonprofit organization supporting outdoor activities for disabled veterans.
