Independence Day 5K

The Independence Run 5k begins at the Depot in Frostburg, Maryland, at the base of the switchbacks on the GAP trail. This community race, marking the 250th anniversary of the United States, includes a 5k at 9:00 a.m. and a 1-mile walk/run shortly after. Registration and bib pickup are available in the morning. Participants must be age 5 or older. Both distances follow a straightforward out-and-back course. Runners travel west on the trail for half the race distance before turning back toward the finish. The course features a gradual climb on the outbound leg, with the elevation gained returned on the way back. Post-race, refreshments, giveaways, and awards will be distributed at City Place. Proceeds from the race benefit Frostburg State University's Children's Literature Center. Runners Wings, a local running and fitness store, is involved with the event.
