Σχετικά με τον αγώνα
The Kennebec Mountain Run covers 15 miles in the La Plata Mountains of southwest Colorado, featuring 3,100 feet of elevation gain and reaching a summit at 12,200-foot Kennebec Pass. The race begins promptly at 7:30 a.m., with a field limit of 150 participants. Runners are expected to approach the course as a genuine mountain excursion: a personal hydration system is mandatory, and the race director reserves the right to implement an emergency cut-off in adverse weather conditions.
The course alternates direction annually, proceeding clockwise in odd-numbered years and counterclockwise in even-numbered years, ensuring a varied experience for returning participants. A single aid station, located at The Fork and visited twice, provides water and Tailwind. Established in 2001, the event functions as a non-profit, directing all profits to La Plata County Search & Rescue. Participants are also required to possess a current Colorado Search & Rescue card, aligning with the remote, high-altitude environment rather than a standard road-race requirement.
