The Lake Placid Classic begins and ends at the Lake Placid Horse Show Grounds, with the Olympic Ski Jumps, the 1980 Olympic Cauldron, and the High Peaks nearby. This Adirondack fall race series offers half marathon and 10K distances, with a 5K also included. All participants start at 8:00 a.m., and the course closes at noon, defining the day around a morning race window.
The course starts by the finish line at the North Elba Horse Show Grounds, goes through the stable area, then heads south on John Brown Road before continuing on John Brown Circle, Old Military Road, and Newman Road. Runners will encounter two moderate hills, one early and one toward the finish. The event originated as a marathon from Paul Smiths to Lake Placid and now attracts around 550 athletes annually, with proceeds supporting a local cause. The timing coincides with peak fall foliage, allowing the village, Olympic sites, and mountain scenery to enhance the event without requiring a large-scale production.
