The Mandan Rodeo Days 4th of July Road Race is a noncompetitive 5K run and walk held in Mandan, North Dakota, on the morning of the city’s Independence Day. It begins downtown near Dykshoorn Park and Art in the Park, starting Main Street’s activity before the Mandan Independence Day Parade. As part of North Dakota’s oldest Independence Day celebration, the race functions more as a town holiday tradition than a typical timed road race.
The course covers the full length of Mandan’s historic Main Street, beginning at 3rd Ave NW and West Main Street. It proceeds west to 10th Ave NW, turns back east to just before Burger King, and concludes at the Mandan Depot. The route is flat, with thousands of parade attendees lining the street as participants pass. Families, casual runners, walkers, and parade-day regulars are all suited to the event’s noncompetitive nature. Each registration donates $10 to the Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation, contributing nearly $25,000 to date, with additional proceeds benefiting the Mandan Progress Organization and Visit Mandan.
