The McNotagain Fall Trail Runs take place at John T. McNaughton Park in Pekin, Illinois. Trail race options span from a 3.5-mile distance to 10, 30, and 50 miles. The terrain is flat Central Illinois, but the race itself is challenging: the 10-mile loop includes approximately 1,300 feet of elevation gain per circuit. All participants have a 13-hour time limit, allowing the event to function as a brief trail excursion, an extended training session, or a complete ultramarathon.
The primary loop is contested in the opposite direction annually, offering returning participants a modified experience on the familiar park trails. Each 10-mile circuit features two creek crossings, and the longer ultramarathons traverse this loop multiple times for 30 or 50 miles. Past iterations have also featured variations like a 5.5-mile race and an 8-hour ultra, with special recognition for those completing an ultra distance. All finishers are awarded medals. Short-sleeve shirts are given for shorter races, long-sleeve shirts for longer ones, and 50-mile finishers may receive an extra award.
