The Oktoberfest 5K is a chip-timed 5K Bier Run held in conjunction with Cleveland Oktoberfest at the fairgrounds in Berea, Ohio. A non-timed one-mile walk begins at 11:00 a.m. It is an annual Oktoberfest tradition managed by Hermes Sports. Runners enter through the Eastland Road gate for race access and festival admission.
The day is structured around the festival as much as the run. Participants show their bib for free Cleveland Oktoberfest admission. Adults receive a drink ticket, and pre-registered runners get a Great Lakes 5K Bier Run shirt. Dressing in authentic German costume earns a friend an extra free admission. 5K awards are given to the top overall men and women, plus age-group finishers. Adult age-group winners receive pint glasses, and younger winners receive medals.
