The Pinehurst Turkey Trot begins and ends at The Village Arboretum in Pinehurst, a village in the Sandhills region of central North Carolina. This event holds the distinction of being the oldest Turkey Trot in the state. The primary race is a 5K, preceded by a 1-mile Little Gobbler fun run for children.
The 5K route guides participants through Pinehurst streets and residential areas, deviating from a closed stadium-style circuit. The day embraces Thanksgiving traditions: participants are invited to wear turkey costumes, all receive a long-sleeve race shirt and a finisher medal, and prizes are awarded to the top overall finishers, masters runners, and the top three in each age category.
