The Purdue Boilermaker Half-Marathon & 5K takes place on a weekend in the fall, starting near Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana. Approximately 5,000 participants run or walk either the half marathon or the 5K. The half marathon begins in the morning, with the 5K starting shortly after. This event coincides with the Feast of the Hunters' Moon festival, integrating into a busy local weekend instead of being a separate road race.
The half marathon route covers Purdue University’s campus, sections of West Lafayette, the paved bike trails on the western edge of campus, and the Celery Bog Nature Area. The 5K route is contained entirely on campus, offering a more straightforward option for walkers, students, and less experienced runners. Purdue students and active or retired military personnel receive a discount on entry fees. Official pacers are available for half-marathon participants aiming for specific finish times. All finishers are awarded medals, and People's Brewing Company manages the post-race beer garden, providing a complimentary beer to finishers aged 21 and over.
